An elevated seismic activity began to occur at the volcano on 24 April.
Seismic networks at Sorokina and Baydarnaya detected an increased number of earthquakes beneath the Karan dome area. The activity gradually intensified, and in the night, from 24 to 25 April, the eruption commenced.
The current conditions in the Shiveluch region are experiencing severe weather, characterized by strong winds and heavy snowfall. The entire area is obscured by thick clouds.
